Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of FindLocalBids. By posting a project, submitting an estimate, or otherwise using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

What FindLocalBids is

FindLocalBids is a tool that helps homeowners describe a home project once, then finds and invites local contractors to submit sealed estimates on a single project page. We are a neutral facilitator. We do not perform the work, employ contractors, endorse or vet them, and we are not a party to any agreement you make with a contractor. Any contract for the actual work is solely between the homeowner and the contractor.

Accounts

Your email address is your identity — there are no passwords. You sign in with a one-time magic link. You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure and for activity under your account.

Fees, payments & refunds

Your first project is free. After that, you pay a one-time flat fee per project based on how many estimates you want us to target; the fee is shown before you pay and charged through Stripe. The fee pays for the outreach effort, not a guaranteed number of estimates. If we're unable to reach any suitable local contractors for your project, you're entitled to a refund of that project's fee.

What we don't promise

We aim to reach enough local pros to hit your estimate target, but we can't guarantee how many will respond, the accuracy or quality of any estimate, or the performance of any contractor — that depends on your area and on the contractors themselves. Estimates are preliminary figures from third parties, not offers from us. The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Homeowner responsibilities

Provide accurate project information and only post genuine projects you intend to pursue. You decide who, if anyone, to hire, and on what terms.

Contractors

We may invite you to bid using publicly available business contact information. You can decline any invitation and unsubscribe at any time via the link in our emails. Estimates you submit are shown to the homeowner; the dollar amount is visible only to that homeowner, never to other bidders.

Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service: no spam, scraping, fraudulent or fake projects, attempts to de-anonymize other bidders' amounts, or interference with the platform. We may suspend accounts that do.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FindLocalBids is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for the acts, omissions, work, or estimates of any contractor or homeowner. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us for the project giving rise to the claim.

Changes & governing law

We may update these terms; continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Questions? Email hello@findlocalbids.com.
